  1. Nice work, I loved the dream like quality to the game and the fact that it didn’t feel like I was on rails (with only 2 or 3 lanes to run in)! But how did did you know I dream about lollies and sweets?!?! ;P

In terms of feedback, these are the things I noticed (roughly in order of when I noticed them).

It took me a while to figure out the controls (I tried the arrow keys first before I tried WASD). And it took me even longer to figure out jumping was possible (I tried jumping and ducking with W and S before I thought to try the space bar)! Some brief instructions at the start (even just a simple text overlay) would be helpful for onboarding.

I also managed to get stuck a few times, unable to move forwards, side to side or jump (behind a tree, in the gap between two sections in the flashy floor section and one time just randomly at a bend in the road). It would be good if the game detected lack of progress automatically and took me back to the start (like when I fall off).

On that note, the ability to start again (maybe with the Escape key?) would be good when I’m testing so I don’t have to quit and relaunch if I mess up in the game or find a bug.

Lastly, I found the flashing floor section was a bit TOO intense. The effect was effective
(I had a visceral reaction) but it was just a bit too fast/extreme, even for one level.

    1. Thank you so much for your feedback!

The current build is only but a simple level design of the first zone/area we have planned, so it doesn’t include our mechanics/movement as much as we have envisioned them.

In terms of the lane system, we are planning to switch to a 3-lane system which is usual for games of the genre, which would allow for smoother gameplay on a mobile device. Unlike other games of the genre, however, it is not going to be a run in a constant line forward, as the pathing will change according to the level design. A lane system will also help us have a smoother run rather than getting stuck in the environment!

Sorry for not including the control instructions on the itch page immediately, but we have done so now! We’ll see what we can do about the restart as soon as possible, it’s a great idea for letting you test with as less frustration as possible!
